The North Norfolk collection began in 2025 when I returned to a landscape that had been part of my life for many years. Having previously explored the coastline through my Beach Hut series, I found myself drawn back with fresh eyes, discovering new subjects and a deeper appreciation for the ever-changing quality of light.
As I spent time walking the coastline and salt marshes, I became fascinated by the textures of weathered fishing boats, quiet reflections on still water and the subtle shifts of colour across the marshes as the seasons changed. The landscape reveals itself slowly, encouraging me to look beyond the obvious and notice the beauty in simplicity and the passing of time.
Returning to Norfolk after several years living overseas also brought a renewed emotional connection to a place that has shaped so much of my life. These paintings are as much about memory and belonging as they are about the landscape itself, capturing moments that feel both deeply personal and universally familiar.
This collection forms part of my ongoing Changing Light project, exploring how places evolve through light, season and repeated observation. Every return reveals something new.
Through these paintings I hope to invite others to pause, reconnect with places that hold meaning for them and discover the quiet beauty that often waits in the familiar.
